Stages

Stages takes a look at common places in German satellite cities. These neighborhoods were built in order to counteract the widespread housing shortage in the 1970s. As these settlements were planned and built in formerly uninhabited areas there was no existing social structure to support them. A high number of residents in a concentrated space is what shapes these places. This work highlights how physical spaces are compressed in these settlements to create new types of stages for modern life to take place on.
